Red Thinking is pleased to announce that it has been awarded five Excellence and Distinction Awards in the 29th Annual Communicator Awards, which are sanctioned by the Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts. With approximately 3,000 entries received from around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring creative excellence for communications professionals.
Red Thinking won two 2023 Communicator Awards of Excellence, including for its Integrated and Multi-Channel Promotional Campaigns for Perch Putt at the Capital One Center in Tysons, VA. More than just a miniature golf experience outside the Watermark Hotel, Perch Putt is a place to swing, sip and socialize, which Red Thinking translated into its vintage Americana brand identity, tone and voice, and graphics. Red Thinking’s second Award of Excellence is for its Causes and Awareness Campaign for The Lives Project: A Fentanyl Epidemic Remembrance Quilt. Red Thinking leaned into empathy and the iconic McGruff the Crime Dog when working with the National Crime Prevention Council to develop one of their most emotional campaigns to date. Inspired by the AIDS Memorial Quilt, Red Thinking designed the brand concept as a place to “lead with heart” by honoring those lost to the epidemic.
Red Thinking also won three 2023 Communicator Awards of Distinction, including for its Business-to-Business Campaigns and Series for EagleBank. Working with EagleBank for more than two years, Red Thinking started by developing a comprehensive roadmap to establish a clear strategy and has since been successfully implementing this strategy across their social media channels. With engagements rates that significantly outperform industry standards, EagleBank’s audience continues to grow rapidly with more than 13,000 users and counting.
The second and third Awards of Distinction are for the firm’s Immersive Brand Experience for Perch Putt Selfie Wall and for its Travel and Tourism Campaigns and Series for The Town of Middleburg, Virginia. To develop a thoughtful and impactful social media strategy, Red Thinking met with Middleburg council members and local business owners as well as experienced the town firsthand to capture the essence of what defines Middleburg for both residents and visitors. Since August 2020, Red Thinking’s team of digital and social media strategists have worked hand in hand with the Town of Middleburg to curate a social media presence that emphasizes its horse country roots, highlights their entrepreneurial spirit, and positions the town as a can’t-miss destination for visitors near and far.
“I’m extremely proud of our team of Red Thinkers who work diligently to deliver the best and brightest campaigns for our clients, resulting in these incredible awards,” says Shay Onorio, President and Owner of Red Thinking. “We listen to our clients and one another to create thoughtful branding, design, and digital campaigns that are not only award winning, but also resonate with the end user. We appreciate The Communicator Awards and AIVA for recognizing us with five awards this year.”
Winners who received the competition’s highest honor, the Award of Excellence, include Red Thinking, Bank of America, PBS, George Mason University, AARP, and more. “The submissions for the 29th season of The Communicator Awards were some of the most diverse and powerful yet,” said AIVA Managing Director Lauren Angeloni. “I am truly blown away by the quality of the work. I want to congratulate all the honorees for their well-deserved wins.”
